Raving Expands Marketing and Technical Scope

posted on 7.07.11

Raving welcomes their newest project partner in marketing & technology, Ms. Chris Archunde.

Raving has an exclusive group of like-minded companies and independent consultants that provide a host of tools and services to casino clients. This team includes Red Circle Agency, Raving Contests powered by SportGame, Raving Service, Nicole Barker and Jacobson Gaming.

Dennis Conrad, President and Chief Strategist of Raving, talks about Archunde’s addition to the team. “One of Chris’ many strengths speaks to her fantastic technical ability to pull reports from systems like Bally's CMP, IGT Advantage or Aristocrat Oasis. We’ve had many clients invest in these systems, but they don’t know how to customize the reports to access the gold mine of information.  Chris, a former director of marketing herself, is one of the few experts we know that can provide access to the super-valuable info these marketing teams need.” Read full press release.

Cypress Bayou Casino Talks Candidly About Raving

posted on 4.26.11

Cypress Bayou Casino has been a client of Raving since late summer 2009, starting off with the Slot Ambassador Program. Following that initial program, Raving has partnered with them on a Guest Service Design Program, Marketing & Database Analysis, Table Games Analysis, Host and Player Development.

We asked Shannon Redmond, Director of Marketing, her thoughts on our marketing & database team of Toby O’Brien and Nicole Barker:

“I truly cannot say enough good things about the Dynamic Duo of Toby and Nicole.  I had been to several Raving Conferences over the past four years and this was what led to our initial contact with the company.  In the past two years, we have experienced the same issues as everyone else in the casino industry.  The declining economy, the increase in competition in our market, and trying to meet the customers’ needs while making effective business decisions.  These factors, along with how impressed I was with their conferences, contributed to our decision to begin a relationship with Raving.

“I was impressed from day one.  The first item on the agenda was a request for information on everything we had been doing.  They not only audited our database, they reviewed our current marketing plan in detail.  I have worked with consultants in the past who barged in, did very little background research, and said ‘do this, this and this because it works in Las Vegas, New Jersey, etc.’ We are South Louisiana, a far cry culturally from these other destinations.  All of the initial concerns I had because of these past experiences were immediately put to rest.  Toby immediately recognized that our customers have their own needs and that our marketing plan could not be the same as a casino in Minnesota, or Nevada, etc.

“We have completely revamped our promotions based on the Raving recommendations.  We began implementing these changes around August of 2010.  The economy and unemployment in our area has continued to decline, due to the recent issues within the oil and gas industry, and despite this – our fourth quarter of 2010 spend per head has increased 13% over the first quarter of 2010.  I, without a doubt, attribute this increase to the change in our programs.

“One aspect in particular that was a tremendous help was proven promotions from Raving, tailored for our property.  Time is such a valuable commodity to me, and the fact that Raving, after doing their own research on our database as well as our customers, submitted promotions that had already been proven at other properties.  They also contributed their own ideas about how to target our customers with small tweaks to the programs, and gave me everything I needed to implement the promotions, from examples of rules to ideas for branding them.  I, unfortunately, do not have time to go out into all the other casinos and see what is working and what isn’t, and what new ideas are out there.  Raving handed them to us, tailored them, and the promotions really are working.

“We also modified our direct mail program.  Nicole segmented the database for every imaginable way to reach the customer in the most effective way.  We have implemented only a quarter of these programs and we have already experienced a noticeable decrease in mail costs without negative effects on our theoretical win from these particular offers.  We are still working on the information we received from Nicole, and she has always been available to answer any questions we may have, even though our contract has been completed.

“I could go on and on, but I think you can see from this brief summary just how happy we were with Raving.  The Dynamic Duo has exceeded all of our expectations.   Probably the most telling point … we have just entered into another agreement with Raving (specifically Toby and Nicole) to work on some other areas where we would like to improve.”

Casino Executives Renew their Commitment to Revitalizing and Regaining Table Game Revenues

posted on 6.2.10

Raving’s Cutting Edge Table Games Conference returns August 18-20, 2010 to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

Not that long ago, table game revenue made up close to 80% of casino revenue. Now, slot machines, with the exception of a few niche markets, drive close to 90%. This is visible by the erosion of table game floor space. Will today’s casinos continue to look more like large warehouses consisting of thousands of server-based slot machines with a small pit included as an afterthought? Not if today’s table game executives have anything to do with it.

“There’s a reason why table games have been popular for over a century,” said Dennis Conrad, President & Chief Strategist, Raving Consulting Company. “The experience on a table game, the live action, the speed, the camaraderie, you just don’t get from a slot machine. The challenge for operators is to realize that today’s table game player won’t put up with surly or bored dealers, that they understand the advancement of player tracking and want their play to be accounted for and that they want exceptional service. Frankly, you don’t see this offered in many pits – most casinos are still operating under the old business model." This is the only table game conference in the industry. Click to read full story

If Your Casino Had the One Magic Bullet to Differentiate Yourself from Your Competitor, What Would You Do With It?

posted on 5.4.10

Your casino has slot machines and table games. So does your competitor down the street.
Your casino has a players club card and competitive rewards. So does your competitor down the street.
Your casino provides 97% payback on slots, high odds on a pass line bet and liberal blackjack rules. So does your competitor down the street.
Your casino has a golf course, hotel rooms and a fine dining restaurant for when the gambler is off the floor. So does your competitor down the street.
So tell me why a GAMBLER would choose your property over your competitors if you offer basically the same gaming experience?
The answer is so obvious and it always has been.
The answer to differentiating your casino from all others is in the way you make your guests FEEL. For a true GAMBLER it doesn't matter if they have more or less cash in their pockets when they exit a casino's doors. What really matters, is that they always leave FEELING LIKE A WINNER.
So, there's your magic bullet. But how do you acomplish this? Read the full article by clicking here

The Power of (Almost Free) Marketing
